Peter Morgan to write Bond 23

Eon have announced that Peter Morgan will join Neal Purvis and Robert
Wade to write the next film in the James Bond series. Morgan's past
work includes The Last King of Scotland, The Queen, Frost/Nixon and The
Deal, a television drama set in 1994 about the complex relationship and
rivalry between future British Prime Ministers Gordon Brown and Tony
Blair.
"Peter, Neal and Robert are extraordinarily talented and we're looking
forward to working with the three of them," said Michael G Wilson and
Barbara Broccoli in a statement, a trifle generously in the case of
Purvis and Wade, two contributors to the series that some fans would
rather see exiled to Siberia than involved in writing another Bond
film.
After the fiasco of Quantum of Solace, Morgan's principle task will be
to try and make sure that the film actually has a story this time. Some
interesting characters, a few good jokes, and a move away from the
utterly tedious Eon obsession with Jason Bourne would all be steps in
the right direction too.
Bond 23 is tentatively scheduled for 2011 at the time of writing.
